NEW AVR SPIRIT 6200 with WB Bunker!
23rd January , 2013, Posted by Pat.

Quality and Capacity: That’s the “Spirit 6200”!

The Spirit 6200 2-Row Offset Bunker Harvester joins the Spirit family of AVR bunker harvesters. The Spirit 6200 is a compromise between the capacity and technology of the larger Spirit 8200 and a highly compact machine. The harvesting and cleaning system of the Spirit 6200 follows the familiar AVR harvesting principle of the Spirit 8200 and the Spirit 6100. High capacity and potato-friendly harvesting are guaranteed!

The new Cab-Bus system with joystick and touch screen enables the Spirit 6200 perfect  harvesting results.

The harvesting system, with smooth transitions, minimal directional changes and drops, efficient  separation of the haulm by long haulm web, controllable stone, soil and clod separation by way of the new split independent speed rotating finger comb, delivers a qualitatively superior product onto the horizontal picking off table.

All of these features ensure the potatoes don’t roll backwards, and the automatic swan neck lowers the product into the six ton bunker.

Optional Unloading on the Go Bunker

The machine is available with the option of the revolutionary 5 ton WB overloading bunker with 2 separate belts for non-stop harvesting.

AVR has, for many years, been a leading, trend setting supplier of potato harvesting equipment and they deliver machines tailored to suit the needs of the modern potato farmer.

AVR Buys assests of Climax International!
21st January , 2013, Posted by Pat.

AVR buys the assets of Climax International bv from the Tal group.

Roeselare 14/01/2013,
Veendam 14/01/2013,

Proudly AVR announces that  it becomes  the owner of the assets from Climax International bv.  The assets were bought from Tal bv.   With this transaction AVR  acquires the stocks and the rights on Climax in-store equipment and Climax Solids Handling.  AVR is specialized in the development and manufacturing of machinery for potato cultivation. Climax has always been known as a manufacturer of in-store equipment for potatoes and for some time it is also known and specialized in trading all kinds of conveyors for bulk material.

Tal bv is satisfied that the activity will be continued and will be properly organized by AVR. It will increase the activity by selling the product via its strong sales network. The lack of proper and available sales channels was for Climax International the main cause for not wanting to further develop this business.

The Climax customers know they can rely on the continuity and on a strong supplier having the necessary market knowledge to  continue the developments of the product.

Stefan Top, General Manager at AVR bvba:  “this acquisition was an opportunity that we certainly did not want to miss.  After the acquisition of the planter activity from Underhaug, which made from AVR a full-liner in the field, our customers and dealerships strongly insisted to finalize the full-line idea by offering also equipment to use in the storage.  AVR is a now a real full-liner, and now we can, through our sales network, offer our customers all the specific machinery they need for potato cultivation.”

AVR will continue to produce the in-store equipment  in Veendam.  The sales will be organized  from Roeselare.  AVR will make use of the existing sales channels of AVR and Climax. In the near future the service activities from the in-store equipment will also be organized from Roeselare.

QUIRKY STORY!
11th November , 2012, Posted by Pat.

2 Chinese brothers have taken the phrase ‘sing for your supper’ quite literally, by making thousands of dollars for performances with their homemade vegetable instruments.

Nan Weidong, 43 and brother Nan Weiping, 41 discovered the sweet sounds that can be made from whittling a variety of veggies including carrots, marrows and chinese yams.

They have compared the melody from the sweet potato to that of the ocarina, the bamboo shoot to the flute and the yam to the whistle, and have been know to play tunes ranging from Chinese flute music to modern pop.

The pair notes, however, that keeping the instruments in tune can be difficult, due to changes in temperature and humidity, which can warp their vegetable orchestra and make controlling pitch very tough!

ASA-LIFT ANNOUNCEMENT!
27th April , 2012, Posted by Pat.

On Friday 20th of April 2012  ASA-LIFT /AS of Denmark and Grimme GmbH of Germany announced a global partnership….

Grimme are by far the largest potato machinery manufacturer in the world and decided they needed a vegetable harvester from some of their markets although this would never become a major part of their business.

I know Grimme have conducted a feasibility study on the possibility of them manufacturing a harvester but have obviously decided an alliance with ASA-LIFT was the way to go.

The significant advantage for ASA-LIFT will be their ability to source components at a much better price.

Fortunately we have been advised that we will continue as ASA-LIFT Importer and Distributor for Australia.

AVR acquires UNDERHAUG / TKS planter division
15th April , 2012, Posted by Pat.

AVR acquires Underhaug/ TKS planter division

Vin Rowe Farm Machinery is excited to report news from Europe that Belgian Potato Machinery manufacturer AVR has acquired Norwegian manufacturer TKS/Underhaug’s planter division.  The deal includes all activities and intellectual property rights related to Underhaug planters.  This is great news for Australian growers who can be confident in the continued development and production of the renowned Underhaug planter.

Tonnes H. Kverneland, Underhaug’s general manager said “Underhaug is very pleased to have found with AVR a suitable partner for the acquisition of its planter business. The customers of Underhaug know they can rely on a strong, high quality supplier, having the knowledge in-house for further development of this successful product line”

Stefan Top, General Manager of AVR: “The acquisition of this division fits perfectly within AVR’s strategy to become a full-line supplier for the potato field machinery.  AVR responds to the market trend towards cultivation / plant combinations, supporting with this acquisition our existing department of spring machines.  We are convinced that, using the know-how within Underhaug and AVR, we will acquire with this product line a solid position among the suppliers of potato planters. AVR will discuss with Miedema to continue its long-term cooperation in a constructive way.
With this acquisition AVR hopes to continue the steady growth it has enjoyed in recent years.  It will continue to focus on product quality and production capacity. In mid 2011 AVR took over the buildings from AVR Tools NV. This 5000 m² hall was converted to a production facility for spring equipment and haulm toppers.  The facility will be used to produce planters.

AVR will produce all existing models of planters of Underhaug, with the exception of the 4 row 3-point link machine.  The introduction of AVR planters is scheduled for autumn 2013.

Underhaug will provide parts and service support for the next two years before AVR takes over full technical support.

What it means for growers.

Graham Rowe of Vin Rowe; “Whilst Underhaug were committed to providing parts and service advice for existing Underhaug planters for the next 10 years, there is no doubt
that customers had some reservations about investing in a planter that was out of production.  What this new deal means is that the Underhaug planter will continue to be produced and developed by AVR in Belgium and as a result growers should have no doubts about the future parts
back up, service and development of the product.  Given Vin Rowe’s strong relationship with
both Underhaug and AVR we are well placed to pass on the benefits of this to our clients”

The Underhaug planter has been a mainstay of Australian planting for over 30 years.  It is exciting that an innovative company in AVR has taken the product on not only for continued back up for the grower but also for the future investment and development of the product.
